Our History

Stirrups Country House Hotel was formally a pub named the Jolly Gardner, founded in 1894 and run by former landlord John Eales. Turned into a hotel in the 1987, the hotel was named Stirrups after the former owners love of Horse Racing.

The current family purchased the hotel in 1990 and turned it into a bespoke 30 bedroom luxury hotel that has been tastefully renovated to be sympathetic to its Tudor origins.
